Lee

Lee Utterbach

Lee, a native of Southern California, started Lee Utterbach, Inc. in 1980. At 65, Lee continues a 30+ year record of service to the SF Bay Area film community and serves as VP of Camera on the Board of PERA (Production Equipment Rental Association). He’s been married to his wife Aly for 10 years. He has one son, Derek, from his first marriage, and two cats: Badger and Harry. Lee dreams of someday letting someone else delight in providing cameras and gear to the Bay Area. In the meantime, he works on his boat, rides his Vespa, gardens, and hangs out with his better half on the roof of his building.

Ryan

Ryan Wilmot

No one here really knows where Ryan came from. Some believe he came from somewhere near the sacred Indian burial grounds east of Orinda. It is believed that he spent time at Tap Plastics and Wolfe Photo developing and honing his retail interactive skills. His is a film geek and quotes film trivia as Denzel spouts Latin in the Great Debaters. It is said that Ryan sleeps next to a flatbed editing machine. A more extensive biography is forthcoming...

Casey Hirshfield

Born and raised in the pacific northwest, Casey comes to Lee Utterbach after a tiki tour across the globe. A true film geek, he will not be caught dead as "that guy" looking for a seat when the lights go down. His music taste is eclectic and hopes to find space for his drums again someday. When he's not overloading his senses with media, a trip to the beach or a hike in the woods is just what doctor ordered.

Cherish Ortiz

Cherish hails from her motherland of the Philippines and came to the U.S at the age of one. Her amour for photography evolved into a passionate affair with motion picture, and from that moment their love was ever lasting. Her music taste expresses her old soul and from time to time gives a secret glimpse into the depths of her teeny-bopper aura. She adores animals and is certain that giving the right hug will allow an angel to gain its wings.  When not on set working, you can eye-spy her reading, singing, or baking red velvet cupcakes that she believes heals everything.

bio_adolph

Adolph Esposito

Adolph has been a machinist for 50 years. He moved to SF in 1960 and has been machining and fixing gear here at LU for longer than anyone will admit. Born in Connecticut the same year as Elvis, Adolph is happily married with 3 daughters and a dog. He was in the Navy between wars as a radio man so he knows Morse Code. He enjoys crossword puzzles, playing Solitaire and Texas Hold’em, is building a sensory deprivation tank, and says “pumpkin seeds will put lead in your pencil.”

Michael Morris

Michael, the last surviving Michael, and our favorite bookkeeper, is a San Francisco native who enjoys long walks on the beach with his dog Boo, surfing, scuba diving, and working with video and Final Cut Pro. He attended Shoreline Community College and later graduated from UC Berkeley in 2000. Michael is a movie fanatic and enjoys the music of Radiohead and William Shatner. He hopes that someday Boo will stop eating everything in sight and, like Miss America, that we will someday achieve world peace.

INTERNS

Kathy Brennan

Kathy comes to us from Homer, Alaska, where the thing to do is hang out at the ditch or the bike rack at Safeway.  She is currently studying film at Academy of Art University.  Call her "Thunder Cat" and she'll get you whatever you want.

leks

Leks Auod

Leks is the thespian here at LU.  Currently studying film at SFSU, Leks is building his knowledge of theatre and film from all ends of the ego-less creative, to the ego-full know it all tech.

Andy Huynh

Andy loves soft and cuddly creatures.  When he isn't lugging around camera gear, his favorite thing to do is rock climbing.

evan

Evan Jones

Evan is studying film at the Academy of Art University and has been active in shooting many types of projects to gain experience.

Devon Taaffe

Devon comes from the Midwest, filled with plenty of “uff-duhs,” “dontcha knows,” and “hot dishes.” She doesn’t quite look 20, but instead could pass for a 12-year-old, and that means a cheaper bus fare. Woo! When she’s not defending her Minnesotan roots from stereotypes, she enjoys reading, laughing, riding her bike, and learning about cameras.   She loves puppies, sun showers and collecting antique hats. Devon aspires to be a Camera Assistant when she finally breaks into the ‘biz. Don’t be fooled by her size, this girls got guns like you’ve never seen!

PETS

Badger

Badger

Badger, rescued from the cat shelter here on Potero Hill is nicked named "Fatty." He and Harry (nicknamed "Farty") are best of buds. Badger is the cat that can't get enough attention and loves to stick his head in smelly shoes. He is very neurotic and loves to eat shrimp tails.

Harry

Harry

Harry, like his older brother Badger, is a graduate of the cat shelter here in San Francisco. He was chosen because Lee wanted a cat that looked like he should be in a hardware store window. It wasn't until later that it was discovered that Harry is a ferral cat and is very timid. In defense, whenever he is picked up he farts.

Leon & Lebowski

Leon & Lebowski are brothers from different mothers.  Leon likes to get into just about anything he can and enjoys ruining peoples belongings.  Lebowski sits and watches his brother, only getting up if food is discovered.  Leon is trying to watch his figure so he just lets Lebowski eat his share.  Lebowski distributes discipline as needed when Leon gets too crazy.

Boo

Boo

At almost three years old, this San Francisco native has so far swallowed two rubber balls whole and eaten a gopher. She seems to enjoy having patches of hair shaved and having objects surgically removed from her stomach. Boo is generally pretty laid back, tends to wander off sometimes, and is learning to surf. She appears docile but can attack without provocation
